KC Chiefs Mock Draft 5.0

Round 2: Pick 63 – Elijah Molden, CB (Washington)

818. . Cornerback. Huskies . Elijah Molden. 63. player

The Chiefs stay on defense for their second-round draft choice, adding Elijah Molden out of Washington to join their secondary. Molden played four years with the Huskies and projects as a nickel slot corner, per The Draft Network.

While cornerback isn’t the concern this year that it normally is for the Chiefs, it’d still be wise to invest at the position. L’Jarius Sneed is a terrific corner (and KC somehow landed him in the fourth round last year), but Charvarius Ward will be a free agent after 2021, Deandre Baker is coming off an injury, and BoPete Keyes is simply inexperienced. That gives KC Sneed and Rashad Fenton.

Well, Molden would be an immediate starter for this group and could give them another talented cornerback for the next (at least) four years. Molden had a really good 2019 campaign, hauling in four interceptions and defended 12 passes. He also had 79 total tackles.

If the Chiefs are serious about upgrading their defense, Elijah Molden would be a fantastic pick in the second round.
