Not especially needing a receiver this season, the Chiefs however have shown an interest in the position. With the departure of Sammy Watkins and the lack of development thus far from Mecole Hardman, the passing offense of the Chiefs must continue to find and develop options to get open and catch passes from Patrick Mahomes.

Nico Collins will be an interesting case study, as he never really put up numbers while in college but is a really athletic, rangy target. The targets the Chiefs have looked into this offseason, including the pursuit of Steelers’ JuJu Smith-Schuster, shows the Chiefs are likely looking for a rangy, athletic receiver. If they can’t land someone such a Terrace Marshall from LSU at 31, do they look at the middle rounds in hoping of developing someone such as Collins?

Collins is the athletic, rangy type of receiver the Chiefs likely would like to bring in, could help replace Watkins’ role and perhaps pair with Byron Pringle and/or Demarcus Robinson to aid in providing a deep, diverse receivers group on offense.
