KC Royals can make deep postseason run if…

Mondesi becomes more than a great glove/stolen base guy

Year after year, fans wait for Adalberto Mondesi to be the next superstar of the Kansas City Royals, but year after year, fans are left disappointed. The 2019 season looked promising but Mondesi struggled mightily throughout most of the 2020 season until the very end.

Even with his struggles at the plate, Mondesi has still proven to be a good defensive player and he’s obviously speedy on the base paths. He managed 24 stolen bases in just 59 games last year, which is pretty impressive considering he had a lot fewer opportunities to swipe bags.

Mondesi’s resurgence at the end of the 2020 season could once again give Royals fans false hope. The fact that he struggled so badly, however, but managed to block out the noise and go on the kind of tear he did to end the season is hopefully a good sign for the future.

If Adalberto Mondesi can start consistently hitting and become a more reliable option offensively, the Royals should be able to make a run in October.

If all of these things take place in 2021, the Kansas City Royals will not only make the postseason, they’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
