Would the KC Chiefs consider trading up in the 2021 NFL Draft? These five names could be prospects to watch out for if the Chiefs did decide to move up.

Every year, the NFL Draft sees the first round proceed with a name many anticipated coming off the board sooner, but as the picks roll in, the player sits in the green room, an uncomfortable grin on their face as the clock rolls on. What some team views as not important immediately becomes a great value for another team. Could the Kansas City Chiefs be the landing spot for such a prospect?

Full disclosure, I don’t anticipate the Chiefs moving up in the draft. They have too many needs to address with too few draft picks to spend making an aggressive move. However, for the sake of consideration, there are some names if they move down the board on draft night who could provide value for the Chiefs in a small move up.

Draft Prospects KC Chiefs Could Trade Up For

The NFL draft will be loaded early, with linemen coming off the board in both quality early and quantity as the round progresses. That being the case, there is likely to be an offensive tackle or two that potentially slides down the boards, perhaps into the range the Chiefs could make a move for.

Christian Darrisaw is a big, physical underclassman that could be the prospect that gets lost in the shuffle a bit in terms of linemen coming off the board. Starting in April until the draft, it will be really interesting to see what happens to the value of offensive linemen and their projections.

Often, about this time in a normal draft, linemen start ‘moving up the board’ due to teams want to get quality linemen. However, because of a deep linemen draft, do we actually see some names fall? Teams could look at a prospect and think, ‘ I can get a tackle in the next round, but this receiver/corner/ whatever isn’t something that will be around next round.’

For the record, under no circumstance should the Chiefs entertain the idea of trading up in the first round for an offensive tackle.
