Is Brian Poole a fit for the KC Chiefs?

Brian Poole isn’t a household name in the NFL, but perhaps that’s because he’s spent the past two seasons with the Jets. Poole is only 28 years old and won’t turn 29 until midway through the 2021 season.

According to Pro Football Focus,

"He has allowed just one touchdown and a passer rating of under 70.0 when targeted over that stretch. There are more spectacular players around the NFL, but Poole has proven to be an impressively consistent and solid defender in one of the most undervalued positions in the league."

The Chiefs are always looking for help at cornerback and Poole would give them a tremendous option in the slot. The problem is likely cost, as Poole is a young and talented player, but he is coming off a shoulder injury and had surgery on it during the season.

Poole would be a great fit for the Chiefs but they might simply decide to bring Bashaud Breeland back instead.

Is Quinton Dunbar a fit for the KC Chiefs?

Like Richard Sherman and Brian Poole, the Chiefs need help at cornerback, and that’ll likely always be the case due to how pass-happy the NFL is these days. That means when it comes to signing cornerbacks, the more, the merrier.

Quinton Dunbar isn’t the best cornerback option available in free agency, but he would give them added depth at the position. Last season was rough for Dunbar, as he struggled mightily during his time with the Seahawks, but injuries were to blame for the lack of production. He ended the season on IR.

While Dunbar would fit a position of need for the Chiefs, the recent injury history and lack of consistency would be worrisome. The upside to Dunbar potentially joining this team, however, is that he’ll be just 29 years old when the 2021 season gets underway, so he is still young. He also had an impressive year in 2019, which wasn’t long ago.

Dunbar would be a fit for the Chiefs, but there are definitely risks with signing him.
