KC Chiefs Mock Draft 3.0

Round 2: Pick 63 – Daviyon Nixon, DL (Iowa)

player. 878. . Defensive Lineman. Hawkeyes . Daviyon Nixon. 63

With their second pick in this mock draft, Kansas City stays on defense, grabbing Iowa’s Daviyon Nixon with pick No. 63. Nixon spent two years with the Hawkeyes and put up impressive numbers, totaling 45 tackles (13.5 for loss) and 5.5 sacks through eight games.

He was a force on that Iowa defensive line and the hope is that Nixon would bring that same kind of dominance to Kansas City. While some might find other areas a stronger need than the defensive line, the Chiefs could lose Taco Charlton, Tanoh Kpassagnon, Alex Okafor, and Mike Pennel to free agency. Even if they keep any of those guys, someone like Nixon would take this unit from decent to good.

While Nixon has the potential to be a very good player, he’ll probably be more of a project as a rookie. The Chiefs wouldn’t need to rush him out there right away and would have time to really turn him into something great.
