As the college basketball season bleeds into March, who is this Mizzou basketball team and what should we expect from them?

The Mizzou basketball season has been something. Actually, it’s been a lot of things. Entertaining? Yep. Frustrating? Beyond imagination. Fun? Of course. Head-scratching? Let me just say I didn’t have a lot of hair at the start of the season and now I’ve got less.

Going into their March 3rd game on the road at Florida, the Missouri Tigers had lost four of their last five, and they probably should’ve lost five of their last six, but managed to somehow hold off the Alabama Crimson Tide at the start of February.

Against the Gators, Mizzou trailed 7-0 very quickly off the bat before head coach Cuonzo Martin used his first time out. After that short break, the Tigers stormed out, scoring eight points in a row to take a one-point lead. Whatever Martin said to his players got through, and the team forced its way out of their collective fog.

Midway through the first half, the Gators took a five-point lead, 23-18. But by halftime, Missouri led 36-29 and extended that lead to 10 points a little bit into the second half. Florida, though, didn’t quit. And while Mizzou never trailed in the second half, things were knotted at 70 with only 18 ticks left on the clock after two Florida made free throws.

And then, a moment of utter beauty:

The win all but assures the Missouri Tigers will go dancing in the NCAA Tournament that starts March 18.

But just who the heck are these guys?
