Five KC Chiefs who are under contract that should not be brought back

KC Chiefs to move on from – Deon Yelder (Tight End)
Deon Yelder is in a unique position in that technically, he’s not under contract for the 2021 season. As a restricted free agent, the Chiefs would have to ‘tender’ him a contract to maintain his services.
A restricted free agent is a player without four years of service time. Despite the team’s continued inability to find a competent backup to Travis Kelce, offering the Western Kentucky product a new contract just doesn’t make sense.
Yelder has recorded just 10 catches for 86 yards in three seasons with the Chiefs. This past season saw him grab seven receptions for 36 yards.
While the tight end doesn’t technically have a contract for the 2021 season, the Chiefs need to make sure the situation stays that way. It’s time to allow Yelder to find a new team. If no one signs and brings him in closer to training camp and the Chiefs still want some depth, then perhaps a low-cost contract could be in order.
