Every year, there are players at the end of the season under contract that shouldn’t return to the roster. The KC Chiefs have at least five of these players currently.

Some are free agents such as Sammy Watkins, and there are players currently under contract that the Kansas City Chiefs need to move on from. Some players are easier to move on from than others.

A few players that, despite a contract, have likely played their last games with the Chiefs and one player that should have but likely returns for next season.

KC Chiefs to move on from – Eric Fisher (Offensive Tackle)

The NFL has been said to stand for ‘Not For Long’ and it’s a cold business. No statement holds true more than when discussing the veteran offensive tackle.

With a big cap number next season in which Eric Fisher is unlikely to participate, it’s difficult to imagine — for a team with cap problems — keeping a player with a $15.150 cap number. His release would save the Chiefs a clean $12 million against the cap.

Recovery from an Achilles injury can last up to a year, meaning that regardless of what happens between the Chiefs and Fisher off the field, he is unlikely to see the field for the Chiefs much if at all in 2021.

Considering the 2021 season is his last contract season, and he’s getting older, the idea of starting the process of getting younger along the offensive line makes sense.
