Once again, cornerback is an area of need for the KC Chiefs. Here are some names they could look to add in free agency.

It feels like every year we’re discussing how cornerback is a need for the Kansas City Chiefs and this year is the same ol’ story. While cornerback is in need of an upgrade, it’s not as dire as it has been in years past.

Bashaud Breeland is hitting free agency for the third time in three years, but otherwise the team will return most of their corners. L’Jarius Sneed impressed greatly during his rookie season and will enter the 2021 season as KC’s starting cornerback. Charvarius Ward regressed, but the Chiefs still like what they have in him.

Former sixth-round pick Rashad Fenton has made heavy strides in his two years with the team. DeAndre Baker was injured late in the 2020 season, but is someone to be excited about. Seventh-round pick BoPete Keyes didn’t play much as a rookie, but we all knew he’d be a project player.

So, with all of that in mind, who are some names the Chiefs should be keeping an eye on in free agency at the cornerback position?

Cornerbacks for KC Chiefs to Target – Bashaud Breeland

The first entry on here makes the most sense considering he’s played for the Chiefs the past two years. Each time, Bashaud Breeland signed a one-year “prove it” deal and both times, he’s proved it. He came back to KC last year after the market wasn’t where everyone thought it’d be and because the Chiefs gave Breeland the best chance to win.

Breeland might have priced himself out of KC this time around but if there’s any chance of keeping him in Kansas City, go after him and get a deal done.
