KC Chiefs Mock Draft 2.0

Round 4: Pick 136 – Bryce Thompson, CB (Tennessee)

player. 839. . Cornerback. Volunteers . Bryce Thompson. 136

Cornerback is always a position of need for the Chiefs and while they look to be on the right track with the likes of L’Jarius Sneed, Rashad Fenton, DeAndre Baker, Charvarius Ward, and BoPete Keyes, it certainly couldn’t hurt to draft a cornerback or two in 2021.

For their fourth-round pick, the Chiefs go with Tennessee’s Bryce Thompson, who had 36 tackles, two defended passes, two interceptions (one returned the other way), and one forced fumble as a junior in 2020. Thompson has been a ballhawk during his college career, hauling in at least two interceptions in each of his three seasons with the Volunteers.

Thompson’s biggest knock is that he’s smaller than what NFL teams would prefer and that’s why he was still left standing in the fourth round. He’d be a really good project corner for this team and maybe could turn into something special after his rookie season.

Sneed was a fourth-round cornerback and was thought to be more of a project and look how well he played as a rookie in 2020. Maybe Thompson could be a similar story.
