The KC Chiefs need to find better linebackers in 2021 because their current unit isn’t getting the job done.
Linebacker has been a major concern for the Kansas City Chiefs for quite some time now and while the team has tried addressing it (they signed Anthony Hitchens a few years ago and drafted Willie Gay in the second round of last year’s draft), it’s still the biggest weakness on the team by far.
Hopefully, Brett Veach makes linebacker a top priority this offseason and if he turns to free agency to upgrade the position, there are a few intriguing names who could come as bargains or at least semi-bargains. Let’s take a look at a few of those guys.
Linebackers for KC Chiefs to Target – Reuben Foster
This one could be risky, but it fits the mold as to what Veach likes to do in free agency. Veach loves re-signing seemingly washed-up first-round picks and seeing if they have anything left in the tank. Reuben Foster falls into that category.
Foster — the No. 31 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft — has struggled with injuries during his young career and hasn’t played an NFL snap since 2018, which was his second year in the league. The Chiefs don’t have a ton of money to play around with this offseason and Foster would certainly be in their budget.
The question, however, would be if Foster is healthy enough to play a full season and heavily contribute? He’d be expected to do just that in Kansas City if they brought him in.
