Kansas City Chiefs Free Agent Targets – Gerald Everett, TE

Gerald Everett, the former second-round pick from — you guessed it — the 2017 NFL Draft, is a free agent and could be on the move.

If the Chiefs opt against signing a free agent receiver, they could target a second tight end, and Everett may be the best fit on the market. He is a few inches shorter and about 15 pounds lighter than Travis Kelce, but both share a very similar athletic profile. Both are quick and fast for their position with the ability to make plays in the open field.

Everett is another young tight end that can do a lot of what the Chiefs ask Kelce to do. If the Chiefs are going to ride with an aging Kelce, they need to have someone behind him capable of doing some of the same basic things. Nick Keizer does not do that.

Everett is a threat in the open field. Everett can block but it’s not his strength and not where he’s best. But Kelce is one of, if not the, best blocking tight ends in the game.

Everett is that underneath chain mover in the mold of what was mentioned previously for Bourne but coming from the tight end position. Line up outside in a receiver position, from the tight in position, as well as the backfield would give the Chiefs another versatile weapon with an ability to at least help in blocking more than a free agent receiver likely would.
