What are the final grades for the 2020 Kansas City Chiefs rookies?

The 2020 NFL season has come to an end and for the Kansas City Chiefs, it ended in sour fashion, as they were blown out 31-9 in Super Bowl LV. The season didn’t end the way Chiefs fans were hoping for, but there’s definitely optimism moving forward.

Part of the reason there’s optimism is because of this season’s rookie class, who did everything asked of them and did so for a team with championship aspirations. Not every rookie did as well as we’d have liked for them to, but everyone played a key role this season.

Let’s take a look at the final grades for the Chiefs’ rookie class.

I would have liked to have given Clyde Edwards-Helaire a higher grade, but at the end of the day, he didn’t have the kind of season we all hoped he would. That’s not entirely his fault, as the offensive line didn’t do the run game any favors, but considering that the Chiefs spent a first-round pick on CEH, it’s okay to have expected more from the LSU star.

Edwards-Helaire finished the season with 803 yards and four rushing touchdowns while tallying 297 yards and another touchdown through the air. Those aren’t bad numbers by any means, but of course, fans wanted to see him go for over 1,000 yards.

I do have to commend CEH for being one of the few players that seemed to care about the beatdown during Super Bowl LV. He was visibly frustrated and the Chiefs really should have tried to get him more involved before it was too late (he finished the game with 64 yards on just nine carries).

Edwards-Helaire missed three games due to injuries, but overall, he was very much deserving of his B- grade.
