Running Backs for KC Chiefs to Target in Free Agency: Devontae Booker

Maybe Devontae Booker can make it a goal to play for every team in the AFC West and if he signs with the Chiefs, he’d be 3/4 of the way there. He was drafted by Denver in 2016 and spent four years with them, never amounting as anything more than a backup.

He played for the Raiders this past season and had his best season in quite some time, rushing for 423 yards and three touchdowns. He had four games where he rushed for over 50 yards (the Raiders’ win over KC is included in that bunch) and was overall a pretty good pickup for the silver and black in 2020.

Now, Booker, who is 29 years old, is hitting free agency again and could be an intriguing option for the Chiefs to look at. I wouldn’t be shocked if he re-signed with Las Vegas honestly, but if he is available for the taking, Kansas City should try to swoop in and make him a Chief.

Running Backs for KC Chiefs to Target in Free Agency: Kalen Ballage

If the Chiefs are merely looking for depth at the running back position, Kalen Ballage could be a decent option to bring in. Ballage played for both the Dolphins and the Chargers last year, but he did most of his damage in LA with the Bolts.

Ballage finished the season with 290 yards and three rushing touchdowns with the Chargers while recording another 99 yards receiving. He’s obviously not RB1 material, but he’d be perfect for what the Chiefs are looking for and that’s an RB3/4.

Ballage probably gets a fair share of attention on the free agent market, but the Chiefs should make a run at signing him. It’d give their running back room another decent name.

Running back isn’t necessarily a position the Chiefs need to focus on in free agency. If they do, these are four names I’d like to see them make a run at.
