Super Bowl LV pits Patrick Mahomes and the KC Chiefs against Tom Brady for the fifth time. Naturally, Mahomes and Brady are going to be asked about the other one all week.

It’s finally the week leading up to the Super Bowl and the biggest storyline is obviously going to be how this will be the fifth matchup between Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady. It’s a 2-2 draw right now and Super Bowl LV will be for the lead in the rivalry, which hopefully Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will win.

Ahead of the biggest event in sports, Brady was asked about Mahomes and while his response wasn’t rude, it definitely seemed like a subtle jab from the six-time champ regarding the reigning Super Bowl MVP.

Brady had this to say about Mahomes,

Looking at the response, some might not be bothered by it because Mahomes should have this mindset. All quarterbacks should be confident in themselves to make every play because they know that’s what comes with playing the position.

The greatest thing about Mahomes is that the Chiefs are never out of games because of him. If they fell behind 24-0 with a different quarterback at the helm, that game probably doesn’t turn out the same way it did (with a 51-31 Chiefs victory). That’s how important Mahomes is to this team.

By this point in his career, Brady is used to people looking at other quarterbacks and thinking they’re better than him. He’s used to not being the shiny toy in the league anymore and being asked about other quarterbacks. His response about Mahomes probably wasn’t intended to be snarky, but at the same time, it’s probably annoying to overlooked when your resumé speaks for itself.

Maybe Brady was throwing shade with this comment or maybe it was just a simple answer. Either way, it’s not like he’s wrong. Mahomes does believe he can make every play and that’s what makes him so great.

Hopefully, Mahomes can get a chance to prove he can make every play and do so against Tom Brady en route to his second Super Bowl win.
