The latest in Chiefs news involves wide receiver Demarcus Robinson and center Daniel Kilgore being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Super Bowl LV.

The first bit of news regarding COVID-19 in Super Bowl LV has emerged and unfortunately, the Kansas City Chiefs are the ones running into issues. Adam Schefter tweeted on Monday afternoon that Demarcus Robinson and Daniel Kilgore are being placed on Reserve/COVID-19 list due to coming into contact with someone who tested positive for the virus.

At first, this is concerning news, as the NFL has been taking the virus seriously to the point where stars such as Lamar Jackson and Cam Newton have had to sit out of games for testing positive. The good news here is that these two won’t officially be out of Super Bowl LV assuming they continue to test negative throughout the week. If they test positive, they won’t be allowed to play.

Robinson would the bigger loss out of the two though he’s the Chiefs’ fourth-best wide receiver so they wouldn’t be screwed without him. Kilgore has played sparingly along the Chiefs’ offensive line and while he wouldn’t be a starter, this unit is banged up as it is, so if an injury occurred and Kilgore wasn’t able to play, then things could get dicey.

No one wants to see COVID and Chiefs news in the same sentence, but this situation will hopefully work itself out.

Hopefully, both of these guys continue to test negative so they can take the field for the biggest game of the season. Again, neither player is a starter, but it’d be really unfortunate to not be able to play in the Super Bowl and played your final game of the season without even knowing it at the time. Let’s hope both men test negative and can be on the sidelines this Sunday.
