Teams that KC Chiefs fans don’t want to land Deshaun Watson – No. 1: Broncos

The team that Chiefs fans would least like to acquire Deshaun Watson is none other than the Denver Broncos. We poke fun at the Broncos all the time and it’s been a long time coming for Chiefs fans, who for YEARS had to endure the wrath of that fan base while Peyton Manning was destroying the Chiefs, and the division, twice a year.

Since Manning left, the AFC West has belonged to the Chiefs and the Broncos have yet to beat KC in 11 attempts (well, 10, as Manning lost his final game against them). The biggest thing the Broncos have struggled with is finding a quarterback and Watson would not only give them their quarterback but make them a legitimate threat in the AFC West.

The Broncos currently hold the No. 9 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and that’s bait for a potential trade for Watson. They’re only two years into the Drew Lock experiment but there’s no question that Watson is a huge upgrade over Lock. The question is, have the Broncos seen enough of Lock to give up on him so soon?

They have weapons on offense ranging from Courtland Sutton to Jerry Jeudy to KJ Hamler to Noah Fant to Tim Patrick and their run game was tremendous in 2020. They also have a defense that’s looking pretty good and we all know how good Denver can be when their defense is in tip-top shape.

If Watson went to the Broncos, that’d put him in a division with Mahomes and Herbert, making things really tough for the Chiefs as far as continuing their run in the AFC West. Watson is someone who could turn the Broncos from a joke into a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
