KC Chiefs: Five teams that fans don’t want to see land Deshaun Watson
The KC Chiefs have a good thing going in the AFC, but with Deshaun Watson likely on the move, these five teams landing him could screw all of that up.
In case you haven’t heard, Deshaun Watson has officially demanded that the Houston Texans trade him after the organization has shown what a dumpster fire they truly are. How does this impact the Kansas City Chiefs, you ask?
Well, the hope is that Watson goes to an NFC team because if he lands with a competitive team in the AFC, the Chiefs’ time at the top of the AFC might not last as long as we all hope it will.
Watson has proven to be one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL and he’s the only thing keeping the Texans as a contender moving forward, but they’ve rewarded him by trading his favorite wide receiver and not giving him a say in who the GM and head coach would be.
It’s no wonder why Watson wants out and if he is indeed traded, he’ll likely make whoever he’s traded to an instant Super Bowl contender. Here are five teams that Chiefs fans are hoping won’t acquire Watson in a trade.
Teams that KC Chiefs fans don’t want to land Deshaun Watson – No. 5: Colts
After having the No. 1 overall pick when both Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck were in the draft, the Colts have found themselves frantically searching for a quarterback ever since Luck prematurely retired before he turned 30. Chiefs rival Philip Rivers is calling it a career, so the Colts will once again be searching for a quarterback and that’s really all they need to be a Super Bowl contender.
Indianapolis has one of the best defenses in the league, one of the best offensive lines, and a promising young running back in Jonathan Taylor. They also liked what they saw from rookie receiver Michael Pittman, who could step into T.Y. Hilton’s old role. As I mentioned above, the Colts just need a legitimate quarterback to make them a scary team in the AFC and Watson would be the best possible name they could get.
The good news for Chiefs fans here is that there’s a very little chance Indy hits the jackpot and gets Watson, as they’re in the same division as the Texans. Then again, the Texans aren’t the brightest crayon in the box, so it wouldn’t be shocking if they did ship Watson to their division rival.
With the Chiefs’ history against the Colts, Watson going to Indy would be terrifying for Chiefs Kingdom because he’d have all sorts of talent surrounding him and would be able to get the better of KC.
