Kansas State football has just one player attending the Senior Bowl and it’s Wyatt Hubert.

After a lackluster season for the Kansas State Wildcats, one player is taking his talents to the Senior Bowl and trying to make a name for himself prior to the 2021 NFL Draft. That player is Wyatt Hubert, who wreaked havoc on the Wildcats’ defense for three years in Manhattan.

Hubert opted to forego his senior year to enter the NFL Draft and it’s looking like a smart decision, as the Topeka native has gotten better every single year he’s been in Manhattan. This past season was his best, as he finished with 27 total tackles (13.5 for loss) and eight and a half sacks while forcing two fumbles and defending one pass.

The storyline surrounding Hubert early on has been his size, as Eric Herauf of SI noted that he’ll have to show he can overcome those “issues” this weekend.

"Kansas State defensive end Wyatt Hubert came in at the bottom among defensive linemen in wingspan (7700), arm size (3000) and height (6026). A shorter wingspan/arm size can be concerning when it comes to block shedding. It will take Hubert longer to engage the offensive linemen and make his move around the player. Hubert has a high motor and is a very physical player. Using those skills, he can make it work around those measurables."

Wyatt Hubert excelled for Kansas State football, but can he do it at the next level? That’s what he has to prove in the Senior Bowl.

Hubert isn’t going to be a Day 1 pick and might even find himself being selected on Day 3 of the draft, but there’s a lot of talent here and this is his chance to prove that. He was the bright spot of the Kansas State defense and not having him next year is going to hurt for sure.

Keep an eye on Hubert at the Senior Bowl to see how he does against the offensive line. Can he make plays? Can he show that explosiveness that made him so important to K-State? If so, then he has a chance to really make a bigger name for himself and rise on the draft boards over the next few months leading to the draft.

Here’s to hoping Hubert can play well and really increase his stock ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft. It’d be nice to have another dominant Kansas State Wildcat in the NFL.
