Jimmy Johnson appeared on The Dan Patrick Show and when asked who he thought was the most talented quarterback he’s ever seen, he responded with Patrick Mahomes.

Coaching legend Jimmy Johnson knows a thing or two about quarterbacks and that’s why hearing him say that Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs is the best quarterback he’s ever seen is quite the compliment. Chiefs fans obviously aren’t shocked to hear this, as they’re constantly wowed by Mahomes and his ability to make plays.

Johnson did preface his answer by saying that he believes Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all-time, but that Mahomes is the best quarterback he’s ever seen play. This is pretty impressive considering how deep of a catalog Johnson has regarding quarterbacks whether he’s worked with them or watched them as an analyst.

It’s hard to argue with Johnson there. As much as Chiefs fans dislike Brady, there’s no debating what kind of resumé he’s put together during his 20+ years in the NFL. He’s won six Super Bowls and is appearing in his 10th Super Bowl a week from Sunday.

Sure enough, he’s going up against Mahomes. This wasn’t something any of us figured would ever happen, as it seemed like a given that Brady would retire as a Patriot. Yet, here he is as a Buccaneer and now the two are going head-to-head in what could be one of the best Super Bowls ever.

Jimmy Johnson also said that he’d pick Patrick Mahomes to start a franchise with, which again, isn’t a shock, but definitely a compliment.

There’s a lot to love about Mahomes. Obviously, he’s talented as they come and he has a chance to get his second Super Bowl before he’s 26. The Chiefs gave him a 10-year contract worth over $500 million for a reason and that’s because players like Mahomes don’t come around often. He’d likely already be a Hall of Famer if he retired after this season.

Jimmy Johnson is one of the all-time greats in the NFL so adding him to the list of people who want to praise Mahomes is quite an honor. It’s crazy that the Chiefs have Mahomes on their team and that he’ll be the starting quarterback here for at least the next decade.

It took a long time, but being a Chiefs fans is finally paying off and that’s because of Patrick Mahomes. We’ll take the compliment, Jimmy.
