Sporting KC: Expectations rise as 2021 season edges closer
By Nathan Dunn
Final Expectations
Sporting KC enters 2021 with high expectations of winning the MLS Cup, however, that simply isn’t going to happen with their current roster. They still are in dire need of a center back pairing that works and more depth up top.
As the roster stands now, this is what the lineup could look like:
Starting XI: Tim Melia (GK); Amadou Dia (LB); Andreu Fontas (CB); Roberto Puncec (CB); Jaylin Lindsey (RB); Ilie (MF); Gianluca Busio (MF); Roger Espinoza (MF); Khiry Shelton (LW); Alan Pulido (FW); Johnny Russell (RW)
Subs: John Pulskamp (GK); Luis Martins (LB); Graham Smith (CB); Gadi Kinda (MF); Remi Walter (MF); Felipe Hernandez (MF); Wilson Harris (FW)
That is a roster that is plenty capable of competing for a good position in the playoffs. If SKC can make the necessary additions, then you could be looking at a team that can truly compete for an MLS Cup.
