Pending Free Agents for KC Chiefs to Re-sign: Antonio Hamilton (Cornerback)

While Antonio Hamilton has played sparingly on defense, he is a regular contributor on special teams. For a team that has done very well — even thriving in some years — on special teams, his return would help not only the important special teams but also provide a depth piece in the defensive backfield.

With Bashaud Breeland a free agent this offseason and Charvarius Ward scheduled to be a free agent next year, keeping depth for as long as possible is a good idea. Keeping the rookies away from important special teams roles goes a long way as well.

Hamilton hasn’t blown us away this season, but he’s worth bringing back for 2021 and maybe even beyond simply for what he can provide on special teams. This team values its special teams’ players and that’s why Hamilton would be an important piece to re-sign moving forward.

The Kansas City Chiefs will have some tough decisions to make this offseason. They likely will need to replace some wide receivers. However, keeping versatile depth pieces, at the right price, could go a long way in maintaining the Chiefs competitive advantage over the AFC West, and perhaps the rest of the AFC.
