A World Series doesn’t appear to be on the horizon for the Kansas City Royals.

Will Leitch of MLB.com did a fun piece on who he thought would win the next 10 World Series titles and sadly, the Kansas City Royals weren’t projected to win, or even make, any of those World Series. The Royals went 30 years between titles, so this isn’t really surprising, but it’d still be disappointing because the team looks to be turning the corner.

What will be tough for Kansas City these next several years will be how tough the American League Central is going to be. The White Sox have been aggressive this offseason and will be a force to be reckoned with for quite some time. As a result, they’re projected to win the 2023 World Series over the Padres.

Surprisingly, the only other divisional team to be in any of Leitch’s World Series predictions were the Tigers, who he had making the 2028 World Series, but losing to the Dodgers. Leitch is high on the Dodgers, pegging them to win three championships over the next decade.

The Kansas City Royals have a lot of work to do if they want another World Series title.

This is obviously just a fun post that Leitch did and there’s no truth to any of this, but it’s not going to be a cakewalk getting back to the fall classic. Kansas City is set up to succeed, but as I mentioned above, the division will be their biggest obstacle.

The White Sox are going to be very good for quite some time, the Twins are playing well, Cleveland always seems to have pitching no matter what, and the Tigers are even turning things around. It’ll be very tough to get to the top of the American League Central, but if the Royals can do it, they’ll be more than ready for what the postseason will have to offer.

Kansas City has put a strong emphasis on pitching in the past few drafts and that’ll be what helps them get back to a World Series. They made it to two in a row because of their shutdown bullpen and outstanding defense, so the team knows what works for them now. They just need a few more bats to help them really look like more of a complete team.
