Kansas City Chiefs: Ranking 2021 AFC playoff teams

1. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs are equipped to beat all of these teams. They’ll be very well rested. Not rusty, but rested and hungry. It’s been a long season for everyone with COVID-19, but KC got the luxury of resting starters in the season finale and now they’ll be able to rest again this coming weekend. It’s true that any given team can beat any given team, but Kansas City didn’t get the only first-round bye for no reason.

They may have had a lot of narrow victories, but they proved that they are just a very hard team to overcome. The Chiefs traveled to Baltimore and won, traveled to Buffalo and won, traveled to Tampa Bay and won, and traveled to New Orleans and won. All road games against playoff teams; all wins. This team is battle tested and ready to take on anyone brave enough to knock on their door.

What’s most dangerous about Kansas City is that after going 14-2, no one would believe that they’ve played their best football yet this season. If all cylinders begin firing in the division round, no one will be able to stop this team. To start, they’ll likely face either the Ravens or Titans, two teams that the Chiefs know how to handle. Those teams have yet to really figure out one key Chiefs player.

These other teams might have Derrick Henry or Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen, but they don’t have Patrick Mahomes. These other teams also don’t seem like a sleeping giant, who could become very angry when it wakes up.

Kansas City is that team. Here’s to hoping that they stay true to their No. 1 ranking throughout the postseason.
