A-. . DE. Kansas City Chiefs. TERSHAWN WHARTON

Tershawn Wharton went undrafted and the Chiefs definitely found a diamond in the rough when they brought him in after the draft concluded. Wharton has been a nice surprise all season long and he finished his rookie campaign strong.

In his final four games of the regular season, Wharton totaled five tackles (one for loss), three quarterback hits, and one sack. He saw 89% of snaps on defense in the Week 17 game and it was cool to see the rookie out of Missouri S&T in action. Here’s to hoping Wharton continues to become a big part of the defense.

B. . P. Kansas City Chiefs. TOMMY TOWNSEND

Being a rookie punter isn’t easy, but Tommy Townsend did the best he could despite having to step into a role held by Chiefs legend Dustin Colquitt. Because of that, I gave Townsend a B on his fourth-quarter report card. He won AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Saints.

In that game, Townsend punted six times, putting three of those inside the 20. He also had a long punt of 61 yards and made sure to pin the Saints deep whenever he got the chance. Townsend has been a nice addition to the Chiefs special teams group this season.
