Good: Darwin Thompson

How about Darwin Thompson‘s performance on Sunday? The Chiefs’ usual No. 3 running back hasn’t lived up to the heavy expectations that fans put on him when he was drafted in the sixth round in 2019, but he got a chance to show what he could do as a starter on Sunday.

What made Thompson such an intriguing prospect when the Chiefs drafted him was how lethal he was as both a runner and as a pass-catcher. We finally saw major glimpses of that on Sunday when he had 14 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown while hauling in seven receptions or 65 yards and a touchdown. That gave him 110 total yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns and should be enough for the Chiefs to keep him around next season.

It was a performance Chiefs Kingdom was itching to see from Thompson and we finally got it. The Utah State product came through and was the best performing backup on Sunday.

Good: Offensive Line

They weren’t perfect, but the offensive line did the best they could on Sunday. Chad Henne was only sacked one time, which isn’t what fans expected to see with a group filled with mostly backups.

The Chiefs opted to keep their starting unit on the sidelines this week but the backups thrived in their short-lived starting roles. Nate Taylor of The Athletic tweeted how the line looked good early on and I’d definitely agree. They exceeded expectations for sure.

For those wondering, Mecole Hardman wasn’t included in the bad here because he’s playing in most games. That being said, he wasn’t good on Sunday and very well could be surpassed by Pringle for the WR2 spot next season.
