KC Chiefs Backups Who Could Make a Statement – No. 1: Martinas Rankin

The Chiefs have had their fair share of offensive line injuries this season, Martinas Rankin included. It is looking unlikely that the Chiefs will see Mitchell Schwartz on the field for the rest of the season and that along with a couple of offensive line season opt-outs has left the Chiefs in a difficult spot.

Due to this, there has been a lot of shuffling on the offensive line and there still hasn’t been a stand-out unit yet. That’s where Rankin comes into play. He is finally healthy after his season-ending injury last year and set to make his first start of the season. If he can have a big week this week he could solidify a starting spot and be a big piece of the Chiefs’ hopeful Super Bowl repeat.

Getting Rankin some work will be critical for the Chiefs because their offensive line has struggled this season. If Rankin comes in and plays well, the team has a nice option to consider as a starter for the 2021 season and beyond.
