KC Chiefs: Potential tight end draft prospects to look at in 2021 NFL Draft

KC Chiefs Tight End Prospects – Hunter Long (Boston College)
Hunter Long, at times, appears to be, well — a lesser version of the first tight end listed. Of the players listed here, Long is the second-best two-way tight end. A good functional blocker with good size, Long also is capable of making playing in the passing game, both inline and split in the slot. Long looks like the type of player that will do more with his athleticism and skills than he should.
While Long can do many things at the tight end position, he doesn’t excel at anything. While he isn’t slow, he certainly doesn’t appear to be a prospect that will run away from defenders and his route running is not overly crisp, at times rounding his cuts. As is the case with a majority of tight ends coming out of college, he’s not a great blocker. However, he’s far better than many previously mentioned and has the body and frame to add weight to help him hold up.
Long is an old school looking tight end with some new school receiver to his game. Jonathan Hayes is a nice comparison for old school Chiefs fans. Again, Kansas City is not in a position to need either a playmaking tight end or a true threat as a receiver, so Long provides versatility in terms of a second tight end type that could allow the Chiefs to move Kelce around, split out wide, away from the big mess in the middle.
