KC Chiefs: Jacksonville Jaguars are now the best fit for Eric Bieniemy
By Cullen Jekel
Eric Bieniemy of the KC Chiefs should jump at the Jaguars’ head coaching job.
Kansas City Chiefs‘ offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has seen his name connected to many head coaching vacancies throughout the past couple of seasons, from the Colorado Buffaloes last season to the Detroit Lions this current season. But one team that currently does not have a vacancy but is expected to is the best of the bunch: the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Obviously, the Jaguars still have a head coach in Doug Marrone, but with the team mired in a 1-14 season, Marrone, in his fourth full season leading the Jags, seems to be on the outs, considering his 23-42 record there.
Plus, earlier this season, the Jaguars bid adieu to David Caldwell, the organization’s general manager since 2013. It looks more than likely that the Jaguars are going to completely re-set the franchise this upcoming offseason by hiring a new GM, using the No. 1 overall draft pick on a quarterback, and hiring a new head coach.
Despite the woeful nature of the franchise, the future looks bright for a couple of reasons. And those couple of reasons are what makes this job the most appealing of vacancies to prospective head coaching candidates, chief among them Bieniemy.
Well, at least you would think. But we’ll get to that last.
