The KC Chiefs are the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs and it feels good.

All of these games were intriguing this week, but the Raiders/Dolphins matchup is the one I was looking forward to the most. The Raiders had to win that game in order to remain in playoff contention and they narrowly lost to the feisty Dolphins. Now the Raiders’ playoff hopes are dashed. You hate to see it.

AFC WEST STANDINGS

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (14-1)
  2. Las Vegas Raiders (7-8)
  3. Los Angeles Chargers (6-9)
  4. Denver Broncos (5-10)

Week 17 Games

  • Chiefs vs Chargers – Sunday (12:00 CST)
  • Broncos vs Raiders – Sunday (3:25 CST)

It’s hard to believe it, but there’s only one regular-season game left for the Chiefs and only one game left period for the other three teams in the division. This season has really flown by, hasn’t it?

With Week 17 being the regular-season finale, there will only be two games played in the division, as every team in the league faces a division rival in the final week of the season. The Chiefs host the Chargers, who they haven’t played since Week 2 where it ended in an overtime thriller.

Neither AFC West game on tap for next week has much significance, but I’m more looking forward to the Chiefs/Chargers matchup because we can see how the backups stack up against the Chargers. There’s really no need to play the starters in this one but I won’t be shocked if they start, play a series or two, and then come out. We don’t need any injuries.
