What did we learn about the KC Chiefs?

It’s rare, but the Kansas City Chiefs played a noon game and it was definitely another nail-biter, which Chiefs fans have gotten used to. The Chiefs honestly should have been forced to go to overtime, but Younghoe Koo missed the field goal that would have tied the game up in the final seconds, so the Chiefs narrowly won 17-14 over the four-win Falcons.

The Chiefs offense was not good at all on Sunday, with only Travis Kelce really impressing. Patrick Mahomes struggled against a Falcons passing defense that was ranked as one of the worst in the league coming into this matchup. He wasn’t sacked at all, which was certainly nice, but there were definitely a lot of frustrations surrounding the offense.

Defensively, the Chiefs played well. They turned over the Falcons, hit Matt Ryan, and when it came down to it, they bent but didn’t break, only allowing 14 points from the birds. It was good to see the defense could show up when the offense decided to take the day off.

What we learned about the Chiefs is that they won’t have to hit the road again until Super Bowl LV, assuming they get there, of course. They clinched their second No. 1 seed in the past three years and hopefully, this aids them in their journey to running it back.

Next up: The Chiefs finish their regular season with a home game against the Chargers in the early window of games. Don’t be shocked if the starters don’t play in this one, as the No. 1 seed is already locked up.
