What we learned in Kansas City Chiefs’ win vs Falcons – Not every play is a winner

We already knew this, but I wanted to take some time to discuss just how bad that fourth-down play call was in the first half. If you forgot, the Chiefs offense spun around – similar to the famous Super Bowl play they stole from a very old Rose Bowl game – Darrel Williams took the snap, handed it off to Sammy Watkins, who then threw a terrible pass to Patrick Mahomes that was intercepted.

The Chiefs have been afraid to have Mahomes sneak it on third/fourth and inches plays, but they’re willing to have him play wide receiver for one snap? This was a dumb play and should not have been called on FOURTH down. The Chiefs were in the red zone when this took place and could have kicked the field goal instead, but they opted for… Well, whatever the heck this play was.

This game was too close for comfort and while the Chiefs have officially clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs, fans shouldn’t be riding high. There’s still a lot for the defending champs to work on as they enter the regular-season finale.
