KC Chiefs: What we learned about the AFC West after Week 15

What did we learn about the Denver Broncos?

This game was… yikes. That’s the best way to sum it up for the Broncos, who were curb-stomped 48-19 by the AFC East champion Buffalo Bills. It didn’t feel like a Bills blowout was in the making in the first half, as the Broncos only trailed 21-13 heading into the locker room at the half.

Unfortunately, Denver forgot to return to the game in the second half, as both sides of the ball sputtered out of control. The defense allowed 27 points to the Bills’ offense while the Broncos’ offense couldn’t keep up, scoring just a garbage-time touchdown. It was ugly.

Drew Lock was uninspiring, throwing for just 132 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown. It was his second straight game without an interception though, so that’s good news for Broncos fans. The run game in Denver is very good, but unfortunately, they got down by so much that Lock was forced to throw a lot in the second half.

What we learned about the Broncos is that while they looked good last week, this game against a Super Bowl contender proved they’re nowhere near ready for contention yet. Denver has been ravaged by injuries this season and that is part of the reason they’ve struggled so much, but it has to be frustrating for Broncos fans because they’re not used to being this irrelevant. Hey, at least their throwback uniforms are cool.

Next up: The Broncos head to Los Angeles for a date with the Chargers in the late window of games on Sunday. Will they go 2-0 against the Bolts in 2020?
