How does Madden see the KC Chiefs’ game against the Saints panning out?

This weekend’s matchup between the 12-1 Kansas City Chiefs and 10-3 New Orleans Saints is must-see television, as it’ll pit two Super Bowl hopefuls against each other in the Big Easy. Madden has done a good job predicting these games in the 2020 season, but before we get to its projection for this week, let’s see how it did with last week’s Chiefs/Dolphins game.

Madden forecasted a close game in South Beach, as it thought the Chiefs would win by just three points. It ended up being a six-point victory for Kansas City, but it was very much a close game and came down to the wire. Oddly enough, the video game did predict that Patrick Mahomes would somewhat struggle, not throwing any touchdown passes while rushing for just one. What really happened was that Mahomes threw three picks, but he did find the end zone via the pass.

Let’s see how Madden anticipates Week 15 going for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Final Score: Chiefs 27, Saints 34

CHIEFS STATS

  • Patrick Mahomes – 18-of-31, 247 yards, TD, 3 INT; 7 carries, 38 yards
  • Clyde Edwards-Helaire – 24 carries, 107 yards, TD; 2 rec, 25 yards
  • Tyreek Hill – 5 rec, 80 yards
  • Mecole Hardman – 5 rec, 55 yards
  • Travis Kelce – 3 rec, 27 yards, TD
  • Damien Wilson – 8 tackles
  • Derrick Nnadi – 1.5 sacks
  • Frank Clark – 0.5 sack

SAINTS STATS

  • Drew Brees – 22-of-35, 220 yards, 2 TD
  • Alvin Kamara – 22 carries, 139 yards, TD; 2 rec, 16 yards, TD
  • Trequan Smith – 7 rec, 84 yards
  • Jared Cook – 7 rec, 41 yards, TD
  • Bennie Fowler III – 4 rec, 47 yards
  • Demario Davis – 11 tackles
  • Margus Hunt – Sack
  • Marcus Williams – 3 INT

Madden predicts that this will be a close game throughout, but that the Saints come out on top when it’s all said and done. Both running backs have huge days, which wouldn’t be surprising for Kamara, but if Edwards-Helaire rushed for over 100 yards against what’s — for the most part — been a smothering Saints defense.

The video game thinks Mahomes will struggle in the second straight game and foresees him throwing three interceptions once again. I did chuckle at seeing Marcus Williams being the recipient of all three Mahomes picks, as that seems highly unlikely. Mahomes throwing three picks in back-to-back games also seems unlikely, but you never know.

As for the scoring in the game, the Chiefs hold onto a lead until the end of the third quarter when the Saints take the lead and never look back. This wouldn’t be shocking for Chiefs fans whatsoever, as fans are used to seeing the team not being able to close out games. The Saints are a good team and if given the chance to go ahead on the scoreboard, they’ll do so with ease.

This is a highly anticipated matchup and if the game goes how Madden sees it panning out, we should be in for a fun afternoon!
