Kansas City Chiefs who are heating up – No. 2: Tyrann Mathieu

There hasn’t been a better defensive player for the Chiefs in the past few weeks than Tyrann Mathieu. The Honey Badger has totaled four interceptions in the past three games and if he can keep doing that, this Chiefs defense will continue to gain momentum and transform back into the unit we saw win the Super Bowl last year.

The Chiefs signed Mathieu prior to the 2019 season because of the difference he makes in the secondary and he’s done just that since arriving in Kansas City. He had a few “meh” games (both against the Raiders fell into that category), but the guy has been on fire since then.

Mathieu playing this well is trouble for the rest of the NFL not only because of his leadership on the defensive side of the ball but also because of how easily he’s able to force turnovers. The Honey Badger is heating up!

Kansas City Chiefs who are heating up – No. 1: Travis Kelce

There isn’t a hotter player right now than Travis Kelce, who is on an absolute tear. Not only is Kelce eating on the field, but he’s doing so well that he very well might win the Offensive Player of the Year for the 2020 season, something a tight end has never accomplished.

Kelce has had at least eight catches in each of his last six games and has gone over the 100-yard mark in five of those six games (he had 82 yards in the one game where he didn’t get to 100 yards). Oddly enough, Kelce had the exact same stats in each of his last two games, grabbing eight catches for 138 yards and a touchdown in both matchups.

Kelce is always one of the best players on the field for the Chiefs, but it has to be concerning for defenses to see him play this well this late in the regular season. It’s going to be really tough for teams to slow Kelce down in the playoffs.
