Kansas basketball will hit the floor in Lubbock as they find themselves in their first conference matchup. Here’s everything you need to know before the Jayhawks take on the #14 Red Raiders.

The Kansas Jayhawks will have a more difficult time in conference action this season and it starts with the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Thursday. Kansas heads to Lubbock in hopes of knocking off a very talented Red Raiders squad.

Preview:

Tipping off this year’s conference schedule, the Jayhawks and Red Raiders will find their first conference game today in Lubbock. The Red Raiders have won five of their last six, and currently hold the best defense in the Big 12.

Kansas will need to find more pressure inside and utilize their speed as much as possible. Both Marcus Garrett and Jalen Wilson are quick inside and will likely be found often throughout the game. Working the perimeter will be another must, as well as keeping taller guys such as Agbaji and McCormack close to the hoop.

Who to Watch

Holding down Red Raider forward Marcus Santos-Silva will be crucial for the Jayhawks. He is very aggressive at the basket, as proven by his time at VCU. The key for Kansas will be limiting his space, and not letting up any pressure. Keeping these two ideas in mind will be what head coach Bill Self should be pushing on his starting five this afternoon.
