KC Chiefs: What we learned about the AFC West after Week 14

What did we learn about the Las Vegas Raiders?

Three weeks ago, the Raiders took the Chiefs down to the wire in Las Vegas and the talking heads were exploring how a changing of the guard in the division could happen in 2021. Well, then the Raiders do what they typically do, which is sputter down the stretch.

Since that loss to KC when they impressed people, the Raiders are 1-2 and barely staying above water in the playoff race. Their recent loss came at the hands of the Colts, who demolished them by a score of 44-27. This loss isn’t nearly as embarrassing as the one to the Falcons and the near-loss to the Jets, as at least Indy is a playoff team.

Vegas’ problem is that their defense is really bad. They fired defensive coordinator Paul Guenther after yet another terrible outing by the defense and maybe that’ll help this team try and finish strong. At best, they can be 10-6 by season’s end and squeak into the postseason, but it won’t be easy.

What we learned about the Raiders is that when it comes to the Chiefs, they can go blow-for-blow with them, but the same can’t be said against other teams. Maybe now that their defensive coordinator is on his way they’ll be more competitive, but it might be too little, too late for the Silver and Black.

Up next: The Raiders have to get over this loss quickly, as they host the Chargers on Thursday Night Football.
