What did we learn about the Los Angeles Chargers?

The Chargers hosted the Falcons this week and these are two teams known for their choking ways. The Falcons social media person even had some fun with it on Twitter during the game.

Considering these teams’ history, a tie wouldn’t have surprised anyone, but lo and behold, the Chargers didn’t blow it! They won their fourth game of the season to move to 4-9 and even though the playoffs aren’t going to happen for them, there is a lot for Chargers fans to be excited for.

Most NFL fanbases don’t get to have tremendous quarterbacks back-to-back let alone back-to-back-to-back, but that’s exactly what Chargers fans have been gifted with for the organization’s lack of Super Bowl appearances. They had Drew Brees for five years, Philip Rivers for 16 years, and now likely Justin Herbert for at least a decade.

Herbert wasn’t brilliant in the 20-17 win, but he did play well enough to get them the W. He threw for 243 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in his third victory as a starter. On the flip side, the Bolts defense made Matt Ryan look pretty bad, picking him off three times. This was a big win considering how badly the Chargers looked last week in their shutout loss to the Patriots.

What we learned about the Chargers is that while they’re not going anywhere this season, they will be right back in the thick of things in the coming years. Once they get a better head coach, this will be a team to watch out for in the foreseeable future.

Up next: The Chargers can’t bask in this victory for long, as they have a short week to prepare for the Raiders on Thursday Night Football.
