Conclusion

Patrick Mahomes continues to lead the odds to become the league MVP at the end of the season. While he continues to perform as the league’s best quarterback should, his numbers statistically don’t make winning both the MVP and OPOY award a lock.

Hopefully, Chiefs Kingdom will see Mahomes as the MVP and Kelce as the OPOY. While Mahomes has created a little distance between himself and the other MVP candidates, his teammate and trusty tight end will have some competition.

Others like Aaron Rodgers, Alvin Kamara, and, surprisingly, Josh Allen are all making their cases. Rodgers is playing like his former MVP self and Alvin Kamara has logged 13 touchdowns between rushing and receiving. Josh Allen finally looks worthy of his first-round draft status. Can Kelce make enough of a case to overtake these other players?

He sure can and it might help that the likely MVP is drawing some attention to the possibility that he can do it. Mahomes might be a little biased, but he’s also not wrong. Based on the unique possibility that he’d be the first tight end to ever do it, it’d bring even more excitement to Chiefs Kingdom and the ever-evolving league in general.

Here’s to hoping that Kelce ends up as the 2020 NFL Offensive Player of the Year.
