2. Record Breaker

Because Kelce continues to make hard things look easy, many football fans may not fully grasp what he’s already done this season. As of Week 13, he just tallied another 1,000-yard receiving season. That is his fifth straight season of at least 1,000 yards receiving, which breaks his own NFL record of four straight. No other tight end has had more than three straight, so that’s quite the impressive feat.

Another record that he’s on target to break is one that he held for less than an hour back in 2018. That year, Kelce tallied 1,336 yards receiving, which broke Gronkowski’s previously held record of 1,327.

Unfortunately for Kelce, San Francisco’s George Kittle broke his record less than an hour later with 1,377 yards. But with 1,114 receiving yards so far this season, Kelce could regain that record if he averages at least 70 yards a game over the final four games.

Also. Travis Kelce Should Be in MVP Conversation. light

That may not be an easy task, but he has been averaging over 90 yards a game, so it’s very possible. Five straight seasons of 1,000 yards receiving shouldn’t have much bearing on an award for only this season, but it may influence the voters. The image that that presents along with potentially breaking the single-season receiving yards record may cause special consideration. And what if Kelce helps to carry this team all the way to the Super Bowl again?

That will only serve to keep his name at the forefront of everyone’s mind. If anything, any sort of notoriety gained will help. While winning the OPOY award isn’t a record, it would be a record of sorts for Kelce, as he’d become the first tight end to ever win it. It’d just be adding another feather to his cap as he continues his march to become one of the greatest tight ends to ever play the game.
