The Kansas City Chiefs were 33-27 winners over the Miami Dolphins. What did we learn?

The Kansas City Chiefs booked their fifth straight AFC West title with games to spare but they did not make easy work of it. They had to fight from 10-0 down and then close the game out toward the end to prevent a Miami comeback as they nearly gave up a 20-point lead.

Here we take a look at three things we learned in the win over the Dolphins.

Pass rush is back – for now

The defense has been crucified a lot this season for letting Patrick Mahomes and the offense down but against the Dolphins, players like Frank Clark and Chris Jones showed why they are receiving big contracts.

The Chiefs defense hardly let rookie Tua Tagavailoa play with heavy pressure coming in, especially from Clark, who came away with one sack. Jones along with Tershawn Wharton and Mike Danna also got in on the action, giving Kansas City four sacks on the day. The pass rush is something that has been missing this year but we saw a glimpse of what the pass-rush can provide when given the opportunity.

If the Chiefs are going to make it back-to-back Super Bowl wins, they need more from the defense. This most definitely applies to the defensive line and with the contracts paid out to the likes of Clark and Jones in the offseason, they need to start showing more of what they can produce on a regular basis.
