What did we learn about the Denver Broncos?

It’s been a weird couple of weeks for the Denver Broncos, who took down the playoff-contending Dolphins in Week 11, didn’t have a quarterback for their Week 12 game against the Saints and lost in embarrassing fashion, and made a game of it against the reigning Super Bowl champions this past week.

Unfortunately for the Broncos, they couldn’t capitalize on a lot of bad breaks for the Chiefs and made really dumb decisions down the stretch, and ultimately lost the game 22-16. Punting on fourth down and willingly giving the ball back to Patrick Mahomes is one of the stupidest things a team can do and Vic Fangio made that boneheaded decision.

What we learned about the Broncos is that even on a down night for the Chiefs, they still couldn’t get the job done. Maybe moving on from Drew Lock in the offseason and bringing in a different quarterback is the solution, maybe it’s continuing to build on the defense (which looked pretty darn good). This is a team that could be competitive, but Lock is holding them back.

I know people in Kansas City want to defend Lock because of his ties to Missouri, but come on. He’s not good. John Elway’s hand might be forced if Lock can’t show the team something in the final four games.

Next up: The Broncos head east to face the sneaky Carolina Panthers for a noon kickoff. This is yet another oddly intriguing game that I’m excited to watch for whatever reason.
