B. . DE. Kansas City Chiefs. TERSHAWN WHARTON

Tershawn Wharton has been a nice story for the Chiefs in 2020. He played college football at Missouri S&T, went undrafted, and found his way to Kansas City where he’s been one of the team’s biggest surprises on defense.

Here are Wharton’s numbers through the past four games:

  • Week 9 – Tackle
  • Week 11 – No stats
  • Week 12 – Tackle
  • Week 13 – Tackle

The numbers weren’t anything special, but for being an undrafted free agent, Wharton has been a nice player this year and deserves his B grade for this report card.

C. . P. Kansas City Chiefs. TOMMY TOWNSEND

Well, after receiving an A on the last report card, Tommy Townsend has dropped off quite a bit. I won’t lie, a big part of why he got that A was because of the fake punt pass he executed beautifully against the Jets.

Townsend had his worst game against the Buccaneers last week and I had to dock him quite a bit for that. Townsend failed to pin Tom Brady and the Bucs deep and while it ultimately didn’t come back to bite the Chiefs, it wouldn’t be fair for me to overlook those issues.

I’m not worried about the rookie punter rebounding and finishing the season strong, but since his only job is to pin opponents as deep as possible (well, and hold the field goals) and he failed to do that in Tampa, his grade has to reflect that.
