KC Chiefs: Three things we learned in Week 12 win vs Buccaneers
By Tom Rodgers
Is Travis Kelce the greatest tight end of our time?
No seriously, is he? We have seen some excellent ones but five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons? that’s insane for a tight end. Oh yeah, he is also second for receiving yards in the league above the like of DeAndre Hopkins, Terry McLaurin, and D.K Metcalf — Minor company I know…
But seriously, when you think Travis Kelce can’t get any better he hits you with a 75+ yard game, and even when he’s not getting touchdowns, he’s proving vital when being double-teamed by other teams, leaving other guys open for a pass. He’s just an all-around amazing player.
Kelce is a lot more important to this offense than most people initially thought and the fact he’s being written into this just tells you everything you need to know about the tight end. He is so crucial even when he isn’t scoring.
Forget George Kittle, forget Zach Ertz, heck, forget Gronk — Kelce is the real deal and he is currently in a league of his own. He may get some flack for not being as good a blocker as Kittle but his hands and movement are that of a wide receiver and it unmatched in the tight end position.
Kelce’s stats might not have been what Tyreek Hill’s were, but the dude is just unstoppable. It’s hard to top what Tony Gonzalez did during his Chiefs tenure, but Kelce is on his way to doing just that (though he has had the benefit of playing with much better teams).
