Maybe the Chiefs aren’t bad on defense?

Well, well, well, the Chiefs actually did turn up on defense and were actually crucial to the side coming out of Florida with the W on Sunday. Bashaud Breeland and Tyrann Mathieu both came away with interceptions in the game against Tampa Bay.

Both picks were immaculate and came at crucial times for the Chiefs with the Honey Badger’s interception coming late in the third quarter as the Bucs chased a 17 point deficit at the time. The Bucs were driving each time a pick was thrown and the Chiefs continued their “Bend, but Don’t Break” performance by making the Bucs offense pay for their mistakes.

With both picks and Anthony Hitchens’ tackle for loss, the Chiefs put themselves in a great position to come away with the win with a fantastic performance on defense despite giving up 24 points. Garbage time yards were going to come late due to the Bucs being down by double digits, but the defense played well in the first half of action.

The pressure on Tom Brady at times was immaculate and executed perfectly by Andy Reid’s men and they will need to have a consistent look on defense if they are to challenge for back-to-back Super Bowl titles. The pass rush is the main complaint here, but hopefully, they figure things out.
