Kansas City Chiefs: Tyreek Hill with the hat trick in win over Buccaneers
The Kansas City Chiefs moved to 10-1 with a 27-24 win over the Buccaneers and they have Tyreek Hill to thank for the big win.
After one quarter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it looked like Tyreek Hill was well on his way to making history. The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver had 203 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter of action. That was just ONE QUARTER.
Hill celebrated his second touchdown with a backfield into the end zone and it looked like the Chiefs would be off and running, but that didn’t end up being the case, unfortunately. We’ll get to that in a bit, but first, let’s discuss just how dominant Hill was in this game.
His monster first quarter was absolutely insane and while the Buccaneers secondary did eventually figure out ways to slow him and Patrick Mahomes down, Hill still had a career day. He finished the afternoon with 13 receptions for 269 yards and three touchdowns against Tampa Bay.

Tyreek Hill was on fire in this game and helped get the Kansas City Chiefs their 10th win of the season.
It’s a good thing Hill showed up ready to play because the rest of the offense was just meh. Obviously, Mahomes and Travis Kelce played great, but Mecole Hardman dropped what would have been a long touchdown, which would have put the game away. Mahomes also fumbled in the red zone, which — at best — would have put KC up 24-0 and the game would have been over even in just the second quarter.
The offensive line was atrocious and was getting flagged every other play it felt like. The run game didn’t do a ton, but that was to be expected with how well the Bucs defensive front has played this season. There was a lot of disappointment in this game offensively despite Hill’s big day.
The defense started off solid, but let their foot up off the gas in the final quarter, allowing for this to be a much tighter game. The pass rush sacked Tom Brady just once and there were two really bad roughing the passer hits that were just unnecessary.
While there was a lot of bad with this win, Tyreek Hill leads the good and he leads it by a long shot. He had over 200 receiving yards in the first quarter and when Mahomes needed someone to throw to, Hill was almost always open.
The Chiefs moved to 10-1, meaning this is their seventh season with double-digit wins in Andy Reid’s eight years in town (they won nine games in 2014). Chiefs fans didn’t think this kind of feat was possible back in 2012 and here we are.
Next up: The defending Super Bowl champs head home to Arrowhead Stadium for a date with the Broncos. As of now, that game is scheduled for Sunday Night Football, but hopefully, it gets flexed out because nobody wants to watch that game in primetime.
