The KC Chiefs are set up to be very good for a very long time.

Chris Roling of Bleacher Report put together a list of the NFL’s 10 best young cores to build around for the future. To the surprise of no one, the Kansas City Chiefs were ranked No. 1 on that list.

"The Chiefs feature the ideal marriage of a strong young core, superb coaching with an Andy Reid-led staff and a generational quarterback prospect, which is another way of saying they don’t figure to leave this top spot for a long time."

Roling mentions in his write-up how Patrick Mahomes (25 years old) alone would likely be enough to keep the Chiefs in the No. 1 spot. Mahomes already has an MVP, Super Bowl title, and Super Bowl MVP to his name despite only being in the league for three years (currently in his fourth year).

As great as Mahomes is, however, the KC Chiefs do have other weapons to hang their hats on.

Roling discusses how Clyde Edwards-Helaire (21 years old) is going to be a dynamic running back for them for the next several years and Tyreek Hill (26 years old) has been explosive in this offense since his rookie year in 2016.

Roling also brought up Mecole Hardman (22 years old), who some Chiefs fans might not always give respect, but he’s been effective and has been surrounded by a lot of other weapons in his first year and a half of his career. He’ll hopefully be someone the offense can depend on more once Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson are both elsewhere.

It’s not all about the offense though, as Roling discusses how Tyrann Mathieu (28 years old) is the highlight defensively for the Chiefs when it comes to their future. Chris Jones (26 years old) signed a four-year extension last offseason for a reason and Frank Clark (27 years old) will be around for several years as well.

Throw in that Andy Reid is sticking around for another half a decade and the Kansas City Chiefs are going to continue to be Super Bowl contenders year in and year out. Their young core surrounding Mahomes only adds to that narrative.

The other nine teams on this list were (starting from No. 2): Dallas, Arizona, Baltimore, Miami, Buffalo, Denver, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and Minnesota. Some of those I agree with, but the chances of all nine of those teams being what the Chiefs are going to be isn’t likely. None of these teams’ quarterbacks are anywhere close to being on Mahomes’ level.

Kansas City Chiefs fans suffered for a long time, but we won’t be experiencing that again any time soon with our team. They’ll be Super Bowl contenders nearly every year for the next decade and that’s an awesome feeling!
