Chiefs’ Run Game vs Bucs’ Run Defense

The Buccaneers are praised for their stout run defense, which currently leads the league as far as rushing yards allowed per game goes. They average 73 yards allowed per game, which is very impressive. On the other side of the field, the Chiefs are right in the middle of the pack when it comes to their rushing attack, sitting at No. 16 as far as rushing yards per game go.

It’s going to be really tough for the Chiefs to move the ball on the ground this week, which could make their game plan pretty obvious. They’re very much a passing team (and why wouldn’t they be with Patrick Mahomes as their quarterback), but with how good Tampa has been against the run, it’s possible that’s all the Chiefs look to do on Sunday.

It’ll be interesting to see just how much the Chiefs attempt to run the ball on Sunday. It hasn’t always been their strongest point this season, but it was nice to see them not give up on running the ball in last weekend’s win over the Raiders. Clyde Edwards-Helaire gives the Chiefs a different kind of running back, but will he be able to find paydirt against that ferocious Bucs defensive front?
