Kansas City Chiefs: Four things to watch vs Buccaneers in Week 12
Will Spagnuolo Blitz Brady?
Tom Brady has been awful against the blitz in 2020. He has been one of the, if not the worst quarterback in this category. But is it this simple for KC? The Chiefs’ d-line has struggled to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Even when blitzing, they just can’t seem to get the sack.
Even just adding pressure to Brady is enough to rattle him. But blitzing can be risky against a team with these receivers. The Chiefs pass rush has been pretty lousy this season and are coming off a game in which they didn’t sack the quarterback once.
We’ve seen in the games that Tampa loses that a big reason as to why that normally happens is because defenses get after Brady and put him on the ground. If the Chiefs want to give themselves an even bigger chance to win this game, then putting pressure on Brady is the key.
Let’s see what Steve Spagnulo cooks up for the defensive game plan in one of the most intriguing games of the season.
New Comeback Kid Replacing the Old Comeback Kid
Tom Brady used to be known as the comeback kid at Michigan. He continued to show everyone why he built a legacy in the NFL. Countless comebacks have been a big part of Brady’s resumé, including the infamous 28-3 comeback in Super Bowl LI.
That Brady did not show up in the Monday night showdown against the Rams. It was the vintage game-winning drive being down by just a field goal, but this time Brady could not get it done, instead throwing a costly interception to help get his team their fourth loss.
The night before Brady’s loss, Mahomes was put in the same situation but prevailed. After last season’s playoff games, it is safe to say Mahomes is the new comeback kid and despite not being able to do it in the 2018 AFC Championship Game, Mahomes has proven ever since that comebacks are his specialty.
Count on the team with the lead toward the end of the fourth quarter to burn as much clock as they can. No team would want to give either of these quarterbacks a chance to win the game with the final drive.
